DECORAÇÃO ORIGINAL EM MADRID


Certas pessoas já nascem com um olhar tão apurado que conseguem mesclar peças de qualquer estilo, cor ou estado com extremo bom gosto. No apê de um estilista de Madrid, essa mistura de móveis inusitados rendeu um resultado incrível, em um lar recheado de tesouros peculiares, como uma coroa amarela enferrujada e muitas poltronas e cadeiras com tecidos bem surrados.

Sem se prender àquele visual perfeitinho das revistas, ele fugiu de qualquer regra e ousou em cada detalhe. Pra deixar os ambientes ainda mais interessantes, o morador preservou as boiseries das paredes e pintou o assoalho em um surpreendente tom de azul claro. No living, uma estante também azul valoriza o pé-direito alto.

    I also call this Halusky. My grandma and my aunts seowhd me how to make it like my great grandma did when they were growing up. Mine is a little different though. I fry the bacon..saving the grease. I chop the cabbage, add a little grease and water, letting the cabbage simmer and steam til soft. Then I make potato dumplings. When they and the cabbage are done, I add the dumplings and the crumbled bacon to the cabbage add a little salt to taste. It's the only Slovak dish from my grandma that I can get down .but with this site, maybe I'll be able to master some more!

    My grandmother was from what is now Henclova, Slovakia. She would boil 1/3 of the pototaes and grate the rest. She added flour and salt to the grated pototaes. She didn't drain the liquid from the grated pototaes. The dumpling like mix was scooped from a bowl with a spoon in small bits to the boiling water. I add a little oil to the water to keep from sticking to the bottom. After the last was scooped in it is boiled for 6 minutes and drained. Then she would add mashed boiled pototaes, fried chopped green onion and diced bacon, the bacon grease with melted butter and half and half. It has always been a family favorite. Different family members would add their own extras like cottage cheese or sauerkraut.Needless to say we don't eat this often as our lives are more sedentary than our grandparents. They lived on a farm without electric appliances.In 1997 I visited Henclova and saw the house my grandparents lived in before coming to America. Outside of a major shopping area in Bratislava I saw two men demonstrating the making of halusky. I sure never thought I would see that in my life.

    Thanks Amanda! I am glad you enjoyed the pgeiori. About bryndza being too salty, I think this may have to do with the kind you buy. I don't particularly like salty foods myself, and I don't remember bryndza being all that salty. Perhaps if you buy export-quality bryndza, it may have some extra salt added so it keeps (just my hypothesis). But whatever works. What's important is that it tastes good in the end. By the way, you can also fill pgeiori with jam and top them with fried bread crumbs.
