I was home schooled. I felt way more preerapd than my classmates. I received 100% focus from my teacher, aka my mother. So there was no way around doing the work necessary to achieve my learning objectives. In a classroom setting, children can be overlooked.

Doesn't play nicely with CFLs on/off cyelcs burn out CFLs faster than anything else.Usually not a good idea with regular fluorescents. It takes as much energy to turn on a fluor. light as it does to run it for X minutes. (I've been unable to find a solid number for X. It seems to be somewhere between 10 and 500, with the agenda of the disseminator affecting the stated value.) I'm not sure about ignition energy for a CFL, but assume it's similar to that for a regular tube fluorescent light.Regular incandescent bulbs are a good candidate for motion-sensing shut-offs. There's an issue with premature burnout with on/off cyelcs, but not nearly as bad as with CFLs. The same may apply to halogen lights, but they tend to run enough current that I wouldn't run them through one of these puppies. There's also the issue that the sensor is using a trickle of current all the time. And the issue that if you sit fairly still at your desk the lights are likely to go off while you're using them. Similarly if your monitor or a desk organizer is between you and the sensor.Bottom line: For home use, if you tend to carelessly leave a light on for a very long time, like closet or cellar lights, automatic shut-offs are good use of money. Otherwise, it's a feel-good gesture that likely will use more resources than it saves.(Er, sorry, Bill, if I cost you any commission fees here.)

I purchased these for a bahortom & hallway in which my tween boys constantly leave the lights on. I like the fact that it cannot be left on indefinitely without occasional motion and it has to be turned on each time. It also acts as a timer in the bahortom I told my son who likes long showers, when the lights go out, his shower time is up. Very nice. For the hallway, which has 2 switches in 3-way, I had to buy another Leviton switch (the VZ0SR) to get it to work, but that wasn't a big deal. These are perfect if you want manual control each time vs. auto on, which these do not do. Leviton & Cooper both make cheaper versions for automatic-on functionality. Of course, their cheaper versions do not let you use CFLs, which have electronic ballasts, so you get what you pay for. I am running mostly CFLs with these two and they work perfectly. That is definitely a plus that pays you back for the extra $$ you will pay for these.
